USF Bestway supports troops

The American Journal of Transportation

When duty calls, USF Bestway Inc. answers. On June 27 Operation Interdependence™ (OI™), needed to transport 43,560 pounds of donated care package products from Dallas, Texas, to Camp Pendleton, California, with the final destination to US Armed Forces still in Iraq. Gary Beggs, President of the Scottsdale, AZ-based LTL (less-than-truckload) motor carrier and his team responded immediately.
"USF Bestway saved the day," said OI™ Founder and President Albert Renteria,

Chief Warrant Officer 4, United States Marine Corps (Retired). "There are nearly 22 tons of supplies, and we are extremely grateful to USF Bestway for volunteering to transport and deliver these valuable materials for our organization and the troops overseas."

The OI™ "c-rats" (civilian rationsTM) filled a convoy of six 28-foot USF

Bestway trailers. Bob Johnson, USF Bestway's Director of Transportation, and a former Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, enlisted the help of Dallas Terminal Manager Mark Weaver and Fontana, CA, Terminal Manager

Mike Gauci to coordinate prompt pickup, expedited transport, and damage-free delivery of the large shipment. The items included personal notes written by school children, as well as treats such as candy, crossword puzzles, videos and grooming aids like toothpaste and baby wipes. All were donated through a community effort in Dallas led by KLIF Radio.

"The USF Bestway team is proud to help out with the important mission of

Operation Interdependence™,? said USF Bestway President Gary Beggs. "We want our troops to know we are thinking of them and appreciate all they are doing to serve our country."

"This is all part of being a good corporate citizen," said Jared McArthur,

President of USF Corporation?s Western Carrier Group. "We need to support volunteer groups like Operation Interdependence™ that enable proud Americans at home to say "Thank You" directly to military personnel defending them on the frontlines."
