ADAM MARSHALL TO KICK OFF OI EVENT: ‘CELEBRATING AMERICA’
By Webster & Associates
Former Marine turned country singer, Adam Marshall, will help kick off an Operation Interdependence® event called ‘Celebrating America’ this weekend in McAllen, TX. Operation Interdependence is an organization that ensures civilian rations® (care packages) are put together and sent to our military personnel while they are away.
This month-long event, sponsored by Payne Auto Group, will focus primarily on getting the American public to write letters of encouragement and support to our fighting soldiers without impacting military resources. “Our goal for the month is to put together at least 700 boxes of letters that will reach over 35,000 troops,” said OI founder and President Albert R. Renteria. “We are very excited to have Adam join us for the kickoff of this venture.”
Not only is Adam a former Marine who penned his songs during downtime while on Iraqi soil, but his first single “Come Home as Fast as You Can” was inspired by a letter that his little sister wrote him while he was away. “One particular letter that I got while I was overseas was from my little sister,” Adam remembered. “It simply stated ‘Big Brother, come home as fast as you can.’” Not only did that letter bring a tear to Adam’s eye, but also a great song idea. Adam Marshall will be sharing that story along with his experiences in Iraq at the OI event this weekend.
