Group Wants To Throw Party For Troops In Iraq

SAN DIEGO -- A local organization is hoping it can help to bring smiles to the faces of soldiers in Iraq this Christmas. Operation Interdependence is launching a campaign called 15 Minutes of Giving. It wants to send goods to Baghdad to help throw a party for 850 soldiers there.

The organization packages items that people donate to troops, such as candy snacks and personalized letters. By doing so, it doesn't interfere with the military's delivery system.

A volunteer said the soldiers can never get enough. "Some people, they've gotten several shipments of boxes ... they just love everything they can get," said Andrea Aislie, who is a volunteer with Operation Interdependence.

The organization says it has delivered about 1 million packages
